ABOUT CARYN

After graduating from Stellenbosch University in 2008, Caryn spent a year working in London before completing her community service in Barberton in 2010. She moved into private practice in Hermanus the following year and further specialised her skills by completing her Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (OMT) course in 2012.

In 2013, Caryn launched her own practice in Strand, which continues to grow and serve the local community. Following the birth of her first child in 2020, she relocated to Cape Town and established her practice at The Health Team in Mouille Point. The practice continued to expand in 2024 with the opening of a Sea Point branch alongside her colleague, Nina.

As a dedicated athlete who has tackled the Ironman, Cape Epic, Otter Trail, and Joburg2C, Caryn uses her personal experience with endurance sports to inform her treatment of sports injuries. She is particularly passionate about managing neck and lower back pain, integrating functional rehabilitation into every session to ensure long-term recovery.

ABOUT NINA

Nina graduated in 2021 from the University of Cape Town and completed her community service year at Port Alfred Hospital, where she built a strong foundation in managing a wide range of conditions. Nina has experience treating sports injuries, orthopaedic and neurological conditions both in South Africa and internationally.
Nina has a special interest in neuromusculoskeletal and geriatric physiotherapy, with a focus on helping patients move better, manage pain effectively, and maintain independence. She has completed additional training in pain education and exercise-based falls prevention, equipping her with practical, evidence-based strategies to support long-term outcomes.

Nina is passionate about patient-centred care and is committed to helping each individual achieve their personal goals and improve their quality of life. Outside the practice, she enjoys spending time outdoors, travelling, practising Pilates, and volunteering, including her work with the South African Riding for the Disabled Association.
